The Protestant Pub
I started reading blogs a year ago this month and one of the first ones I began to follow was SOFYST. At the time I couldn’t tell you why. This student and theologian seemed to try and constantly irritate everyone and was never anything less than confrontational and controversial. Now I would love to say all that has changed but it hasn’t. Adam is no less confrontational and no less controversial than he was a year ago, to the contrary, he has refined it to an art form. To say he no longer raises the brow would be an out and out lie. Now the SOFYST blog, as we knew it, is no more. Adam has decided to parlay his talents with several other gifted writers and authors and created a site devoted to dealing with every taboo and hot topic involving the Church and/or government. Now not all who write there are as confrontational as Adam but the topics they deal with rarely fall outside of the controversial category, if ever. Consider this quote taken straight from the site:
“The Protestant Pub exists to encourage discussion regarding religion and politics. Here there is no seperation of church and state, they are both to be discussed.”
While I would prefer to keep this fact secret I think it only fair that each of you judge for yourself so please drop in on The Protestant Pub and get back to me with your impressions. Should this type of blog even be allowed to exist? Now if this isn’t enough to ruffle your feathers there’s also a forum at the Pub where everyone is encouraged to take part! Is there anyone who can reason with these irreverent brethren? If so please sign up on the forum and let reason prevail! You can read more from Kc at Just So You’ll Know…

The amazing grace you people bestow upon me never ceases to amaze me. Thank you my friend. If you keep it up, I shall keep deducting years from your purgatory sentence. You are already down to only 500. Your repeated denial of the blessed Calvinism has made it so high…embrace Calvinism, call freegrace theology heresy, and steal Dorsey’s beer, and I’ll lower the sentece to only a week. I am the Protestant Pope, I can do that you know.
sofyst says,
deny freegrace…i am the protestant pope..
if they do not abrogate all their laws and traditions, restore proper liberty to the churches of CHRIST, and cause that liberty to be taught, then they are guilty of all the souls that perish in this miserable servitude, and that the papacy is identical with the kingdom of babylon and the antiCHRIST..
dr. m. luther
sorry, i couldn’t resist.
In some areas, Luther was woefully incorrect….
oh yes…i fully agree. from what i have read, about what he’d say and do sometimes i think one of the biggest problem he had with the pope is he was not him…
I think of his disdain for John Calvin and the idea of election. It seems to me that Luther deliberately ignored scripture in order do deny the idea of the ‘elect’.
condemning zwingli to hell for doing nothing more than disagreeing with him…demanding religious freedom and turning around and wanting to take it from others, even if they were quacky…his vulgarity…but…
his backbone was quite admirable…to me anyway…
and grace…marvelous grace…he was allowed to see it in the word…
